2019-2020 Autism Workshop Series Lineup Announced!

The Iowa City Autism Community is proud to announce our 2019-2020 Autism Workshop Series Lineup! These workshops are created in partnership with The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital Autism Center and the Iowa Regional Autism Assistance Program. The workshops are free and reduced price when available. When available, we post presented information on our website for those who are unable to attend. Mark your calendars!

NEW! Sensory Story and Playtime at the Cedar Rapids Public Library

This program is intended for individuals with autism, sensory processing disorder and attention differences. This program is inclusion friendly. We’ll read a short story and assign participants to different roles to complete a Lego task. The program encourages strong development of motor skills, socialization skills while having fun with others. The exact same program will be repeated in the evening for individuals unavailable for the daytime session.

Iowa City Autism Community Soccer Camp Back for Fall 2019!

Hello! We have (finally) been able to squeeze in a 6-week spectrum soccer skill building camp for this coming fall! The camp will be held on Friday evenings from 5:45 – 6:45 at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center from September 6 to October 11. (We apologize for the late notice – all official Iowa sports teams had priority scheduling, so they only informed us of this opening today). See the attached flyer for camp information – this will be our second camp and it will run very similar to the first camp. The registration fee for this camp is $40. Three pieces of information are required to sign your child up! Thank you in advance! We are really looking forward to playing some soccer!

2. Our payment for the field reservation is required in advance of the camp. Therefore, I am requesting registration fees in advance payable by two methods. First, you can mail a check to Drew Voigt to 117 Ferson Avenue, Iowa City IA 52246. Second, you can pay the registration fee via paypal. Simply navigate to https://www.paypal.com/us/for-you/transfer-money/send-money, log in/create a paypal account, hit the “Send and Request” tab at the top of the window, and enter in my email address drewvoigt@gmail.com(note – no “H” in Voigt!). Select the “sending to a friend” option and send the $40. If neither of these options work, please send me an email and we can coordinate an alternative method of payment.
3. Fill out and sign a waiver form for each child participating in the camp. NOW ENROLLING – START IMMEDIATELY (or at your convenience). FOUR SPOTS open in 2:30 class – this is for kiddos who are able to operate safely without 1:1 supervision (one instructor will be in the class). SPOTS ALSO AVAILABLE in the 3:30 class – this is for younger kids or children who need more support – parents will be inside the gym for this class. CALL THE GYMNEST to register – but you can also swing by THIS SUNDAY to just check it out! SIBLINGS WELCOME.
