SIX Weighted Lap Pads Available FREE for Pickup

Could you or a loved one use a weighted lap pad?
Thanks to talented volunteer, Teran Buettell, who has spent countless hours sewing weighted lap pads for the Iowa City Autism Community over the past couple years, we have six beautiful lap pads to make available. (Polypellets purchased by ICAC.) They are fabric-covered, pretty hefty – great for preschoolers who like a heavier pad, elementary students, or older kids/adults who don’t need too much weight. IF YOU WANT ONE YOU WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO PICK IT UP FROM MY PORCH IN IOWA CITY WITHIN TWO WEEKS. First come, first serve. Contact Dina Bishara if you are interested – iowadina@yahoo.com

Superhero Nights Resuming at The Children’s Museum in Sept, ICM Offering New Services

Some new services that are being offered by the Children’s Museum! Superhero Night will also be resuming in September, following facility’s new safety guidelines.
  • Play Packs – These all-in-one activity kits cover a specific topic and encourage creativity, critical thinking, and exploration. Our first kit includes 4 activities related to space, but we’ll have additional kits coming out the rest of the year, with themes related to STEM, art, and more. https://theicm.org/playpacks/
  • MyICM Facility Rentals – Small groups can rent our space and explore our exhibits in a more private setting. Groups are limited to 25 individuals (less than 3% our normal capacity) and our staff ensure everyone is following our updated procedures designed to protect everyone in our space. Learn more here.
  • Super Hero Nights – We are looking to bring this event back in September. If you have any feedback or ideas on how to best serve families with children with special needs during this time, please let me know and I’ll pass it along to the team!
