Autism-Friendly Activities
Throughout the year, The Iowa City Autism Community volunteers organize several activities for individuals on the spectrum and their families. Thanks to generous community donations, events are often free or at reduced price. We have worked with several local establishments to host sensory friendly browsing hours at our local libraries, sponsored sensory friendly movie screenings, bowling events, trampoline jumps, painting sessions, workshops, field trips, and more.
Contact us at icautismcommunity@gmail.com for more information, to volunteer or to collaborate to help make our community more inclusive, accessible and accepting of autistic individuals and their families.
Join our Online Community
The Iowa City Autism Community hosts an online community group for autistic individuals, their friends and families to come together to share insight, experiences, events and resources with one another. Please send a request to join our Facebook group here or sign up for our mailing list.
Iowa City Autism Community Meetings
We hold monthly ICAC meetings in order to plan for future group activities, discuss current local advocacy opportunities and to create opportunities for those in the autism community to meet and connect. Individuals on the autism spectrum, caregivers and community members are all welcome to attend and contribute.
Our meetings are usually held the third Thursday of the month at one of our local libraries. Please look at our calendar here to see when/where we are meeting next. For questions, please contact Jessie Witherell at jessiewitherell@hotmail.com.
