CALL FOR ARTISTS! A5 Art Festival

ARTISTS WANTED!

The A5 project (Awesome, Autism, Art, Awareness, Acceptance) is a yearly community festival sponsored by the Arc of Southeast Iowa that celebrates the artistic talents of children on the autism spectrum. The Iowa City Autism Community is also proud to be a co-sponsor of this show. The mission is to showcase artwork done by autistic children and young adults on the autism spectrum in order to promote community understanding and appreciation of autism. This event also has craft and activity tables, music, food, therapy animals is always FREE and open to the public.

This year’s theme is “The Hero In You!”

The Awesome Autism Awareness and Acceptance Art Festival is local art project that celebrates artwork created by youth and adults on the Autism Spectrum. This year our project is promoting HEROES. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, from places you least expect and those that are right in front of you.

This festival is full of fun! Collaborative artwork and individual submissions will be on display. Local agencies will have art and sensory booths that can be enjoyed at any age. Therapy animals, and so much more…

THIS YEAR – We welcome local comic artist Samuel Locke Ward, who will be helping participants make their very own comics! Sam is a celebrated local musician and regularly writes and creates artwork published in Little Village. More about Sam HERE.

We will also welcome local dance troupe Debut Dance who will be doing a special performance at the show.

How to Participate – 

Partnered with The Arc of Southeast Iowa, all art submissions can be sent to or dropped off at The Arc of Southeast Iowa office. Art will be mounted and displayed by A5 volunteers and can be taken home at the end of the show. There is no fee to participate. Participants are welcome to submit multiple pieces. All media and formats (singing, poetry, painting, etc) welcome!
